Community Hero Spotlight: The Benefits of Fasting with Coach Jeanene Samuels

I've known Jeanene Samuels for well over 10 years. A fellow pisces and fellow youth and wellness advocate, she's always been dedicated to helping people. Subsequently, I've witnessed her own transformation. It's been remarkable. So, when I knew I was doing these community spotlights that I had to feature her.

Read her bio below:

Jeanene is a Nutritional Lifestyle Coach and Nutrition Consultant. She has been working and studying nutrition for nearly 10 years and has been a nutritional lifestyle coach for over 3 years. She has also worked as a social worker for over 10+ years. As a nutrition coach and consultant, she is inspired daily to support others with their nutrition challenges and goals, and help them live the healthy lifestyle they have always wanted.

Jeanene is also a mother, author, and self-care advocate. Throughout Jeanene's educational and lifestyle experiences, she has been able to identify what coaching techniques she can use to help people find the right lifestyle shifts that best work for them.

Now, enjoy our conversation on the benefits of fasting:

SR: Have you fasted before?

JS: Yes, I've fasted many times, and for many different reasons.

SR: If so, why did you fast?

JS: I mainly choose to fast because optimal health is important to me.

Plus, I am always looking for ways to improve my health and grow as a person.

SR: How long did you fast?

JS: So, I have done several fasts. However, the longest stint was for 21 days.

SR: What was the biggest benefit of your fast?

JS: The biggest benefit from fasting besides the loss of weight and elimination of waste, was experiencing calmness and a reduction in my food cravings.

SR: What was the biggest challenge during your fast?

JS: The biggest challenge was wanting to break my fast because of food that I wanted to try or if I just wanted to eat when spending time with family.

SR: What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about fasting?

JS: I think the biggest misconception people have about fasting is that you are going to be angry and hungry the entire time. That is not true. The truth is the more you develop the discipline to fast, the easier the process becomes, and the less you experience cravings. Making fasting part of your lifestyle, mindfulness and calmness will come naturally.

I'm so proud to call this woman my friend. I hope you all enjoyed this brief conversation.
