Giving Tuesday: Feeding Queens, Building a Movement

Family—when I say The Connected Chef is family, I mean it. Since 2020, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with this incredible organization to make a real difference in our community. Together, we’ve been on the frontlines, ensuring families across Queens have access to fresh, healthy food and the resources they need to thrive. This Giving Tuesday, I’m asking you to join us in continuing this mission.

The Connected Chef isn’t just about distributing produce—it’s about building connections, empowering our neighbors, and creating a movement that uplifts everyone. This is what family does for each other, and I’m calling on you to help us take this work to the next level.

The Impact So Far

In 2024 alone, The Connected Chef has:

  • Distributed over 11,000 Lifeline Grocery boxes, ensuring families receive fresh, quality produce weekly.

  • Served 48,880 Queens residents, bringing nutritious meals to tables across the borough.

  • Launched the first-ever Sliding-scale Urban Farm Stand at Queensbridge Houses, connecting residents to affordable, locally grown produce.

  • Opened a new Community Food Hub in Woodside, in partnership with Seed+Oil.

  • Deepened partnerships with Black and Latino farmers, spending over $230,000 to support their vital work.

This work has touched so many lives, and I’m proud to stand with The Connected Chef in making it happen.

Looking Ahead to 2025

With your help, we’re ready to do even more:

  • Bring 50-100 families off the waitlist and into the program.

  • Open a distribution warehouse and storefront to expand reach and streamline operations.

  • Continue delivering fresh produce to 940 individuals weekly.

  • Build a robust resource network offering job training, language support, and housing assistance to families in need.

How You Can Help

This Giving Tuesday, December 3rd, we’re aiming to raise $25,000 to fuel these ambitious goals. Every dollar you contribute goes directly into the community, creating resilience and equity while supporting local farmers and families.

  • Food justice education that empowers individuals and builds stronger communities.

When you donate, you’re not just giving food—you’re building a movement of hope, empowerment, and equity.

Thank you to everyone who has supported The Connected Chef over the years. Whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word, you’ve been a vital part of this journey. Together, we can continue to grow, serve, and build the community we envision.

This Giving Tuesday, let’s show what family can do. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier Queens—one meal at a time.
