Creating With My Nephew Is A Dream Come True!

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to work with my nephew in some aspects of film and TV. He is a professional actor and self taught musician, and let me tell you, he's really freaking good at it all. True story! He's been acting since a youth, doing things with Rugrats and SpongeBob. I'll never forget during the 2006 Super Bowl, while I was incarcerated, watching the halftime show, I saw this dude in a Footlocker commercial with NBA Legend Kevin Garnett! I was hyped! I was shouting all throughout the dorm, "Look at my nephew! Look at my nephew! Ya'll see my boy!" Man. The joy I felt was overwhelming. Of course, some people didn't believe me, because in jail people make up lies all the time about who their family is. But not me. This was my nephew, my brother's 1st born son. We shared the same blood. He's gone on to do some absolutely phenomenal work, truly inspiring me and making me feel all the feels of a proud Uncle. This is my guy!

Anyway, I could write an entire book on our relationship, but I'll save that for another time.

Over the last few years my nephew has gotten more into creating skits. I love his content. I've shared some of his skits with my children, my siblings, my mom, and many friends. And my dream has been to create a skit, or series of skits, with him. Today, we made that happen! I'm ecstatic! In my opinion, this dude is a legit creative genius. So to have worked on a skit with him, knowing that there's more to come, is really incredible. What was also dope about today's filming is that while taking a break from the cold, a sister that worked at the movie theater we were standing in inquired about what we were doing, and when we told her she said, "That's good that ya'll are keeping it in the family." We both smiled. That's the goal. That's what my father, his grandfather, would have wanted: for the creatives in the family to work together. That's what it's about! I'm super happy we took that first step today. As you can imagine, I'm excitedly looking forward to more!
