About the event
In 2023, I organized a 14-day hunger strike and sleep-out on the corner of a severely underutilized public building in Long Island City.
For fourteen days, I slept outside in a tent, in the cold. No food. No shelter beyond what was built by hand.
The action was organized as part of a demand for community access to public space through the Western Queens Community Land Trust.
Hungry For Justice is a ten-minute documentary composed of footage gathered during those fourteen days. It documents what happened, as it happened.
On New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1st, the film will finally be screened online.
If you believe public space should serve the public, or if you want to understand what it costs to demand that, you’re invited to witness.
